Till what extent if increasing your knowledge benefitial?
Many a times i have the feeling that it's better to know less but use the knowledge we have to better the society/world or evn just someone's life.
For example: think of those current affairs know-it-alls. how is knowing the date of birth of the current president of Japan, help people in anyway??
Is our society becoming obssessed with the accumulation of knowledge, rather than understanding and finding practical uses of this knowledge?
Is this obssession being detrimental to society?
Take those quizz shows, they hv further increased this obssession. And what is its use?what do these people specializing in winning competitions do?they might b famous for a while, but their doings leave a mark in the world?did they bring any benefitial change?
global warming, another big topic .
Scientists have been screaming it loud for at least the past 20 years. Politics and big corporates created the confusion of whether it exists or not, and consequently postphoned the blamings on them till now.
Even though the effects are noticible to any human beeing, there is still denial and redunctancy to change habits and solve the problem.
Who's to blame?

Aumentar o conhecimento em termos de cultura geral não é mal nenhum e deve ser incentivado. Desta forma apoio esses concursos de cultura geral (claro que há perguntas que não lembram a ninguém, não digo que não).
Em termos de conhecimento científico depende obviamente da forma como for orientado, dos limites que a regulação existente em cada país e da mentalidade e valores éticos dos investigadores. Quanto mais se sabe, maiores são as possibilidades, que não devem deixar de ser bastante tentadoras, até para a pessoa mais bem intencionada.
É necessário haver limites e que estes sejam cumpridos, e também investir em áreas de interesse mundial e não económico ou bélico. Como exemplo, a indústria farmacêutica investe bastante em doenças que afectam principalmente os países desenvolvidos, de modo a obter grandes lucros, deixando de investir em doenças como a Malária que é uma das doenças que mais mata a nível mundial. Existem investigações na clonagem de mamíferos e há investigadores que sonham em conseguir chegar com sucesso à clonagem humana, para quê?
Um bom exemplo de descontrolo a favor de um maior potencial bélico foi a descoberta da bomba atómica, capaz de destruir o mundo, não benificiando ninguém.
As áreas de conhecimento delicadas com grandes potenciais nefastos devem ser bastante restritas e controladas pois hoje em dia o conhecimento centífico rapidamente toma contornos globais e alta tecnologia nas mãos erradas pode ter efeitos devastadores.
